ALLMI Lorry Loader and Slinger Signaller Training in Cumbria

HIAB training in Cumbria for novice and experienced operators

Across Cumbria, lorry loaders handle everything from timber and fencing to agricultural machinery, often on farms and rural sites with uneven ground.

We deliver ALLMI lorry loader (HIAB) and slinger signaller courses at your premises, on the vehicles and cranes your operators use every day, for up to four candidates per course. Open novice lorry loader courses also run in Milton Keynes.

Total Compliance is an ALLMI-accredited training provider. Courses can also be registered as Driver CPC periodic training.

To whom do we provide ALLMI training in Cumbria?

Our Cumbria courses suit operators from agricultural merchants, forestry contractors and builders’ merchants, where safe siting on soft or sloping ground is part of the daily job.

Fell roads, farm tracks and wet ground are part of daily life for Cumbrian operators, so our training puts extra emphasis on checking ground conditions and deciding when a lift should not go ahead.

How does ALLMI training from Total Compliance help your business in Cumbria?

Most sites ask to see an ALLMI card before they let an operator work.

Our trainers regularly travel the M6 and A66, delivering ALLMI courses at customers’ premises in Carlisle, Penrith, Kendal and Workington.

Our ALLMI courses in Cumbria cover novice and experienced lorry loader operators, refreshers, conversions and slinger signallers.

See ALLMI lorry loader training for who each course suits, and our booking page for dates and prices.

What to expect when we train at your site in Cumbria

  1. Tell us how many operators need training, how much lorry loader experience they have, and the cranes and attachments they use. We will book the right course: novice (2 days), experienced or refresher (1 day), conversion (half a day) or slinger signaller (1 day for experienced candidates, 2 days for novices).
  2. Each candidate is assessed on the attachments they use, because the categories on an ALLMI card are based on the crane’s capacity and its attachment.
  3. The course ends with ALLMI’s assessment: two theory papers and a practical test on the crane.
  4. Successful candidates receive a temporary certificate at the end of the course, so they can work straight away. ALLMI then issues their card and certificate, valid for five years, and each candidate keeps the ALLMI Operator’s Manual.

Cumbrian operators move materials for farms, the energy sector around Sellafield and building projects in Carlisle, Kendal and Barrow-in-Furness, often travelling long distances on the M6 and A66 between jobs.
