Self-Study with Examinations — from £145+VAT
Our most flexible and affordable option. You receive comprehensive training notes and practice questions to work through independently. This option suits experienced transport professionals who are confident studying without structured support.
Upcoming Exam Dates
All four study routes lead to the same CILT examination. The exam can be taken remotely under supervised conditions or in person at an approved centre. We recommend choosing your target exam date early and working backwards to plan your preparation.
Contact us on 0345 9001312 for the latest exam dates and to discuss which sitting gives you the best preparation window based on your chosen study route.
Already Hold an HGV Transport Manager CPC?
If you already hold the Road Haulage CPC and want to add PSV to your qualifications, you may be able to take a shorter top-up route rather than the full course. Many transport managers hold both qualifications, particularly those working for operators that run goods and passenger vehicles. Contact us to discuss the most efficient path to dual qualification.
Why Choose Total Compliance?
Our trainers have extensive hands-on experience in PSV operations, not only in training delivery. The course content is grounded in the practical realities of managing bus, coach, and minibus fleets. We are a CILT-accredited training provider, and our qualifications are recognised by Traffic Commissioners when assessing applications for PSV operator licences. We deliver training from our facilities in Lincolnshire, and remotely across the UK.
How the Examination Works
The PSV Transport Manager CPC consists of two papers, both of which must be passed. The exam can be taken remotely under supervised conditions or in person at an approved centre.
Paper 1 is a multiple-choice examination lasting two hours, covering the full syllabus. This paper is closed book, so no notes are permitted. Paper 2 is a case study lasting two hours and fifteen minutes, which presents a realistic PSV operational scenario and tests your ability to apply your knowledge to practical management decisions. The case study is open book, meaning you can take your course materials and personal notes into the exam. Either paper may be re-sat at a later date for an additional fee.
What Does the Course Cover?
The qualification is awarded by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) and covers eight core subject areas, assessed through a separate PSV-specific examination:

Commercial Law
Business structures, company law, and the commercial framework for bus and coach services.
