New Driving Licence Check Code

The DVLA have introduced a way so you can share your driving record (to find out such as vehicles you can drive, any endorsements on your licence, validity) with a car hire company or employer temporary or permanent, using your mobile phone.

You’ll get a button on your home screen if you have an Android phone, or a pass in your Apple Wallet if you have an iPhone. With this, you can share your driving record using:

• a ‘check code’
• a scannable QR code

The codes expire after 21 days and can only be used once.

You can only use this on a mobile phone – there’s a different way to share your diving record if you’re using a laptop or desktop computer.  You can use this link https://www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence and enter driving licence number, national insurance number and postcode to get your information in this way.

The new service using a mobile phone code or scannable code can only be used if your licence was issued in England, Wales or Scotland.
